Improve efficiency on Winders, Unwinders and Slitters
Static electricity causes severe problems throughout winding and unwinding applications, whether using plastic film, paper or textiles.
Fraser offers cost-effective solutions to all of these problems. The all new NEOS range with its revolutionary built in intelligence is ideal for dealing with static electricity on winders. NEOS is designed to compensate for the changing geometry of the reel and provide a consistent level of static elimination. IONSTORM long range static eliminators, consisting of one or more 3850 Bars and a 3700 Controller are also specially designed for winding applications. A few typical winder applications are shown below.
On a centre winder the Static Control Bar may be positioned above or below the reel. It is a good idea for the ionisation to be directed mainly at the reel, but also catching the single sheet, as shown below. Ionised Air Blowers can also be considered.
If there is a lay-on roller, the best position for the Static Control Bar is on the side where the film leaves the lay-on roller - in this case the underside - because it can neutralise the charge as soon as it is created. If this is not practical, then position the Bar on the top side.
|On a turret rewind, position the ionising Bar so that its ionisation will be attracted to both rewind positions, if this is not possible two bars may be needed.
Usually the most effective position for a static eliminator on the centre winder would be where it neutralises both the single sheet and the reel; on the lay-on roller winder it neutralises the charge as it is generated.
If it is not possible to position the Bar beneath the winder due to space or other restrictions, the alternative position shown can be used and this is also very effective. In the case of the image to the left there are two bars located in ideal positions.
